Soft Strength is a journey into the inner world of the human being. Subtle, barely perceptible noises, sounds and images are intended to intensify the perception of our senses.
As we are chronically overfed by a flood of information in this day and age, this project is intended to help listeners, viewers and sensory users “purge” themselves of this excess and “reduce” themselves to the basic human need, which undoubtedly lies in interpersonal connection and mutual attentiveness.
The project Soft Strenght, initiated by Katharina Gross (cello) and Fie Schouten (bass clarinet), contains new compositions by the composers Peter Jakober, Janco Verduin and Katharina Gross, a.o.
The composition by Peter Jakober was commissioned by Stichting Gross & Marinissen and funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The composition by Janco Verduin was commissioned by the concert organisation De Link in Tilburg (NL) and funded by the Performing Arts Fund NL. The composition by Katharina Gross was supported by the Musées de la Ville de Strasbourg and the Performing Arts Fund NL and realized during her artist residency at the Aubette 1928 in Strasbourg in 2024/25.
